Quality at 25 KB
At 25 KB a face photo around 450–550 px on the long side looks clean at normal viewing sizes. Fine texture (hair strands, fabric weave) softens first; overall sharpness holds.
Simple images — logos, screenshots of text, signatures — stay essentially perfect well below this size, though for screenshots with sharp text PNG at reduced dimensions can look better than JPG.
Getting the dimensions right
A good pairing for 25 KB is roughly 500 px on the long side for photos. Bigger dimensions spend your byte budget on pixels you’ll lose to compression anyway.

Why does the same target give different quality for different photos?
JPEG size depends on how much detail the image contains. A portrait against a plain wall compresses far better than a group photo in front of foliage. The tool always finds the highest quality that fits your target for that particular image.
Can I keep the original pixel dimensions?
The tool keeps original dimensions whenever quality reduction alone reaches the target. It only scales down when that’s mathematically impossible — you can’t fit a 4000-px photo into 25 KB without either scaling or destroying it.
