PAN card photo size tool
Online PAN applications through NSDL (Protean) and UTIITSL require a colour photo in JPEG under 50 KB at roughly 3.5 × 2.5 cm, plus a signature scan also under 50 KB. This preset fits the photo requirement and center-crops to the right proportions — all on your device.
A PAN photo is identity-grade personal data joined to your tax record. Compressing it locally, instead of uploading it to a converter site you know nothing about, is the sane default.
PAN photo preset: 3.5 × 2.5 cm (≈413 × 295 px at 300 DPI), JPEG, under 50 KB.

- The tool re-encodes the image on your own device until it fits the target — nothing is uploaded.
- Check the preview and file size on the result card, then download.

Tips for a first-try acceptance
- The PAN photo is landscape-leaning (wider than tall compared to passport photos) — don’t reuse a 3.5 × 4.5 crop; this preset crops to the correct 3.5 × 2.5 proportions.
- For the signature, switch off nothing — just set the target to 40 KB and drop the cropped signature scan in.
- Keep the source sharp: NSDL/UTIITSL manual review rejects blurry photos even when the file passes the size check.
Frequently asked questions
NSDL rejected my photo for “invalid dimensions” — what happened?
Most likely the aspect ratio was wrong (a passport-style 3.5 × 4.5 photo squeezed into the 3.5 × 2.5 box) or the file was resized by stretching. This preset center-crops to the exact proportions instead of distorting.
Same photo for PAN and passport applications?
The person can be the same; the files can’t. PAN wants ~413 × 295 px under 50 KB; Passport Seva wants exactly 630 × 810 px under 250 KB. Use each preset separately on the same source photo.
Does this work for PAN correction/reprint forms too?
Yes — the photo and signature specifications are the same across new PAN, correction and reprint flows on both NSDL and UTIITSL as of the 2026 guidance we compiled.
